Hello, I’m Sheila Poquiz!
As a first-born generation Filipina American, I have always walked between two cultures: American and Filipino. I always wonder what it means to be both American and Filipino. I would have thoughts like "I am not American enough to be American and I am not Filipino enough to be Filipino."
I understand the struggles of balancing two different identities and wondering if I am enough to be accepted. I recognized that society's views on who I should be impact how I perceive myself. I am working on my intentions to unlearn what society wants me to be and empower myself to be my authentic self.
As your therapist, I am here to guide you through your journey to a better you.
When I am not a therapist, I enjoy doing several things in my free time. Things such as traveling, spending time with friends, going to concerts, volunteering/working at conventions, trying new restaurants, going to cafes, playing video games, watching animes, making origami, and working out.
